Applecare success
The is nothing quite like the pleasure you get from ordering a new computer. Exciting enough, then to be given the shipping details and the courier companies tracking number to find out where the little beauty is. That is priceless. If you have never done it, the next Notebook or iMac …. Do it. Cost of the machine aside, the tracking is an adventure and so very cool. So much has been written about the un-boxing a a new Apple product I will only say that it is an experience, just as using the operating system. It is the essence of the Mac. My Apple experience this week is two fold. The second was the call centre and an AppleCare claim for a dead battery in my Macbook Pro. The operator, Scott, was how they all should be, just a friendly guy helping you our of a sticky situation. I’d like to think that this call was recorded and used for training. End result is a happy customer who has spoken to someone in Australia. The other reason for this post is more to be able to help someone else on the move to Mac. Load enough of what you think they will need to move into a new way of doing your computing. Buy not enough that they can investigate the workings of OS X. I must say that there are still things that I do quicker on a PC than Mac, maybe that is just because I haven’t been cornered enough to find a solution for my MacBook Pro. Probably would be better too. I may sound like the classic “fan boy” or a reformed smoker but it’s just so much easier to use the Mac OS. Must learn more about terminal and the internal workings, I can see it work but I want to know why and how. That is just me 🙂
